Context
The Babbel Control Panel is a B2B platform that enables companies, ranging from small startups to global enterprises, to provide their employees access to the Babbel App, where they can take language lessons and classes to enhance their language skills. B2B users leverage the Control Panel to manage their employees’ memberships, plans, and credits for use in the Babbel app, as well as to track learning progress and engagement through their language learning path.
Problem
While the previous version of the Control Panel offered several valuable features, we identified some issues and opportunities for enhancement.
- Low Engagement: Many B2B users reported low levels of employee engagement and expressed a desire for additional tools to foster participation
- Lack of guidance: Challenges in locating and tracking important metrics, as well as understanding the necessary actions to take in certain situations
- Outdated UI: A new Design System release introduced modern components that could significantly enhance product usability

Discovery phase
1. Research
We began by reviewing existing surveys and user feedback to gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities we were exploring
2. Interviews
We conducted interviews with key stakeholders to gather their perspectives and to ensure alignment with business goals
3. Ideation
Collaborative workshops were facilitated to brainstorm solutions, refine ideas and prioritize features based on stakeholder input
4. Prototypying and testing
The concepts were translated into a prototype, which was tested with users to iterate and refine the design until we reached the MVP
Final design
Live prototype
I’ve been diving into Figma Make to craft fully functional, interactive prototypes.
